Yesterday I bugged Heather to death, asking her to help me find a word. All I could tell her was, “It’s like exacerbate, but it means to completely engulf someone in flames.”
I was looking to put this word in my “Dads Don’t Babysit” post over at Love Shak, Baby in this sentence:
When I used to hang out on AOL message boards, there were many mothers who would incinerate any woman who dared admit she spent a moment away from little Bratleigh.
Obviously, we finally came up with the word incinerate, but that still wasn’t the word I was thinking of. Finally, as I was laying down to sleep, I thought of the word I had been looking for. Eviscerate, which I just found out, doesn’t mean to engulf in flames. It means “to disembowel”.
Gives new meaning to my brother’s LJ title, “The Zen Evisceration”. Here, I thought it was some nice “phoenix rising from the ashes” thing, and come to find out, my brother’s just a psycho.

Well, I was just relieved to learn you weren’t thinking of some word I had never heard of.

You should’ve just asked me.

Are you sure you didn’t mean “immolate?” That’s a good flame word.

That’s what I would’ve suggested.

It’s better than The Zen Masturbation, right?

I’m sorry about your grandmother, but I’m also glad she seems to have had led such a full life.
