Fine. You wanted $3500 down. But did you have to be so fucking rude to me? I can’t wait until I’m rich, I’m going to go buy a shitload of cars from the Dodge place across town and go drive them through your grass at your dealership. Assholes.

Omg that’s horrible, but please please don’t buy anything from Beaman Dodge in M’boro either. They were so horrible to me back when I had a Dodge and needed repairs made (under warranty.) I mean, I actually had to get my dad to call up there, and my dad and I don’t talk. We hate each other. That’s how much trouble those people gave me. Oh, and my boyfriend’s mom tried to buy a car there a month ago, and they only offered her $1,500 for a car that was worth at least $7,000 (that was what KBB.com said it was worth if in “fair” condition. It was in good, if not excellent.)

Sorry, I didn’t mean to be all bossy and try to tell you what to do. Carry on…
August 14, 2007 at 3:44 pm
LOL Megan, I won’t buy a car from them, either. I’ll buy one from Alexander or something to really piss everyone off.
August 14, 2007 at 4:06 pm
Omg Alexander Auto Mall GAHHHH!
hehe
August 14, 2007 at 4:43 pm
Ivy, whatever you do, don’t buy a car from one dealer when you’re pissed of at another one. I made a HUGE financial mistake the last time I did that.

Asshats!

I had someone at Bill Heard tell me one time that I wouldn’t get a truck for what I was willing to pay. I went somewhere else, got the truck I wanted for what I was willing to pay, and then drove it up to Bill Heard and had the salesman come out and look at the truck I wouldn’t get. Jerks! I hate car salesmen!!

You might fare better at a place like Carmax. I know their stuff is all “used” but my mom got a practically brand-new PT Cruiser from there. It had been repo’d, had less than 3,000 miles on it. Was less than 6 months old (3 mos old if I remember) correctly and she got a helluva deal on it since it was technically a “used” car.

Or, you could talk to me about it. From time to time I buy cars for people who do not want to take the time and trouble, or, do not want to deal with the gauntlet of a car dealership. I typically charge somewhere between 250.00 to 500.00 (I usually save folks twice that much or more.) dollars, (depending on the vehicle wanted) but i didn’t charge Aunt B, and I won’t charge you. There are many, many secrets to this game. If not, good luck.

Mack,
You seriously need to advertise your services. I would have gladly paid you last time I had to go car shopping, if I could have had you do the research and negotiations. I absolutely detest buying cars.

OK, this was in Memphis, not Nashville, but we had the best car-buying experience going through the Internet guys at the major Honda dealerships in town. We emailed them, told them what we were looking for, and they all emailed back the prices they were willing to sell to us for. We called the guy who gave us the lowest price, went for a test drive, and bought the car. He never tried to upsell us, never changed the price, and was a generally nice guy. We also got a steal on it b/c it was the end of the model year (the blue book value for my vehicle is actually still higher a year later than what we paid for it). It was the simplest, most hassle-free, and quickest car-buying trip I’ve ever been on.
All that to say – try going through some of the web salesment for the dealerships you’re looking at – they don’t have to be the sleazy, way too fake happy guy in the parking lot because you come to them. And, if they’re jerks, you never actually have to lay eyes on them.

I did just have an awesome experience at the Honda place in M’boro, and will give you the name of my salesguy if you want. As far as Dodges go, though, all I know is that place on Broad St. makes great chicken.

The depreciation is wayo high on a Dodge or Chrysler car. They really lose their value fast. If you really have to have one, do what Malia suggested and go thru Carmax or use Mr. Mack or something like that instead of going through a dealer.

I bought a Scion xB (toaster on wheels) at Neil-Sandler Toyota in M’Boro last December, and I was happily surprised at the lack of crap involved in the purchase. Scion has a no haggle price thing like Saturn, so I cannot vouch for what it would be like to buy a Toyota from them, but since my salesperson only got a flat fee for selling the Scion, it was a very straightforward transaction.

We have bought our last two trucks at Carmax, both have been great vehicles for us. I have heard some bad stories from other people about Carmax, but not me. I have nothing but good comments – I just don’t trust smaller dealerships anymore – Nelson Mazda is the WORST!!

I will see you Friday, missy!
If you’re only having one beer, you’d better let me buy it.

I’ve bought a lot of cars in my life, and not once have I not felt like I’d just got a screwin’ as I drove away.

My neice used CarMax when she purchased her car. She was happy with the transaction, but did have her mother along who is the worlds greatest (or very close to it) negotiator. She has so far been very happy with their car.
Signature is a den of thieves. My mother purchased a used VW Beetle through them, and when she started having problems they deliberately ran through what was left of the warranty. The first six months mom had the car for all of about two weeks, the rest of the time it was in their shop. And it was run anywhere from 300-1500 miles each time they had it.

Let me tell you my story about Southeast, well I have two. In 1995 I walked into the dealership with a cashiers check for a brand new Jeep Grand Cherokee. Not only did I not drive away with my new black Jeep that same day, (they said they wanted the check to clear the bank) HELLO….it is a cashiers check. But they switched cars on me. Yep, I was STUPID! Didn’t realize it until I had already driven away, but sometime during the 1 day let’s let the check clear the bank routine and the time I did drive off the lot I went from a full package with CD player and special wheels to none of the above…..now if that wasn’t bad enough every window in that Jeep quit working during the 2 years of hell I had that vehicle, I finally traded it and lost money just to have the peace of mind. Now story number 2 and I do mean number 2….my granddaughter bought a 1 year old Dodge Neon from another dealer out of town, it was 1 year old when she bought it. She started having problems with the gas light coming on all the time and her dealership told her to take it to you guessed it Southeast….she did and they told her she would have to have an entire new gas tank in her car cost of around $4-5 hundred dollars. She was in tears and asked my advice. My words were “In my personal opinion, if you don’t want to have to break out the Vasoline and the sequin kneepads then NEVER again go to Southeast” unquote….We took her car to the Dodge dealership on Church Street and the cost = the car was still under warranty and it needed a new gas cap $7.54. P.S. I still stand by my personal opinion.

sounds like somebody gots the bad credit…dont be mad at the dealership

I can understand your fustration. I purchased a vehicle from them the other day and basically I felt was taken. We traded in a vehicle which they gave us what we wanted for the trade in after they came in low. Then I found out later the theft etch was not on the vehicle which I paid for the night we purchased the vehicle which was $299. It was clearly marked on the sticker where we paid for it and the contract. The two people I dealt with in the process said we had not paid for it but it was right there on the sticker. I decided since it was not on the vehicle I did not want it. In the end they said since I was given such a good price for the trade in I was not entitled to the refund even though I paid for it which they did not tell me that night. If you want to buy a vehicle buy it from someone else. As far as I am concerned they were somewhat dishonest I feel. I just wonder how many people have paid for the theft etch and did not get it when they left the dealership. Just a warning I would not buy another vehicle from Southeast Signature in Murfreesboro. I was really fustrated with some of the people there at the dealership.

Southeast Signature are crooks. I tried to negotiate with them on a vehicle that was the same price as Alexander Ford and they were $60 a month higher on their payments. The salesperson lied to us more than once and the sales manager was rude as hell. I will never go back there. Edmunds.com has a dealer ratings on their site now and I suggest all here should rate Southeast at Edmunds. That will surely hurt their business.
