Bits and bobs

I’ve got a bunch of little things piled up, so it’s time to make a composite post.

1. Random internet fun is to writer’s blogger’s block as prunes are to constipation.

2. Like my pal Tony alluded to in comment #11 in this post, things are, indeed, looking up. And I don’t hate myspace as much as I used to, since it enabled me to find several of my oldest, bestest friends. First my knitty, gritty pal, and now Tony. Lemme tell y’all about my boy Tony. He was one of the few people that still called and wrote when I moved to Tennessee. That’s friendship, y’all. I was the one who disappeared off the face of the planet, and now I’m really glad to have him back. :)

3. If you’re not playing with this, you’re missing out. Lynnster, I expect you would dig this more than anyone.

terrorist-mobile.jpg4. If you haven’t read Jeffrey’s fab post, you should. And it made me think of something only slightly related. Every time I see a Toyota van, I think “terrorist mobile”. I don’t know why, really. I see a van like that and I think “shit, terrorists!” I was thinking perhaps it was because the “Libyan” terrorists in the movie Back to the Future drove a van like that- but no, I just looked it up. They drove an old VW van. And I don’t think “terrorist mobile” when I see an old VW van, I think “hippie mobile”. I need to get over my vehicular prejudices.

5. Nate today: “I’m Mark Brown!” Dunno why, but it cracked me up

6. There is no 6. This is a figment of my imagination

7. ::insert comment-whoring statement here:::

Edit: here’s some more shit I forgot:

8. One of the things that was a big push to get me to move my personal blog from blogspot to WordPress is actually *using* WordPress like I am over at Home-Ec101. WordPress is da bomb, folks.

9. Speaking of  Home-Ec101, I expect we’ll have our ten thousandth visitor sometime tonight. Holy shit, can you believe that? We’ve “officially” been open just over a week. That’s hella traffic, yo.

10. And on a similar  note, I was thinking back to what I really, really wanted to do when I was a kid, and it was be a writer. And here I am, a writer. I’m making my dreams come true, bit by bit- and my GOD it feels GOOD!

  1. Damn! I can’t believe you’ve got that many hits!!! Well, yea I can, cause I’ve been telling 3 new people everyday. I sent a link to Mom at work, she’s got her whole office plugged in, checking out the site every day. But still, 10,000?!?! Holy snapping assholes. That’s a lot of freaking peeps…well congrats, you ladies deserve it! Now, you and I need to get together after the *ahem* and start one about SHITTY nursing homes! Bahhaha

  2. I’ll be the loner not moving to wordpress. I like my photo albums too much :)

  3. The world needs more crazy cat ladies, IMO.

  4. That Musicovery thing is pretty cool, Ivy. I’m not sure I agree with some of their choices tho as far as some of the stuff they categorized as “dark”, “positive”, etc. It’s still pretty neat tho, I definitely bookmarked it! Thanx for the heads up! :)

  5. Ms. Ivy, I have lost your email address. Could you shoot me a message?

  6. Congrats on the jam up job with the site!!
