I have no eathly idea why I even eat at Cracker Barrel anymore. The last 4 out of 5 times I have been there I’ve received either bad service or bad food. Tonight was a bad food night.
First, let me explain something. I despise burnt food. I won’t eat burnt marshmallows, burnt toast, burnt steak, *anything* burnt. I don’t even like blackened chicken because it reminds me of that burnt taste. Mystery Lady X burned everything we ate when I was a kid- she prefers food burnt. When she orders a steak, she orders it “extra well- it’s okay if you burn it” and she means it.
I was probably 14 or 15 years old before I realized there *was* another way to eat steak, and I’ve been ordering my steaks rare and my bacon limp ever since.
So tonight was no different when I ordered my bacon limp. When I received my food 25 minutes later, not only was the bacon completely burnt, but so was the hash brown casserole. I sent the bacon back, but thought I could probably eat around the burnt hash brown casserole.
I took a couple of bites and the HBC that wasn’t burnt still tasted burnt. Argggh. So, I sent that back too. The thing that pisses me off is, why do servers send out burned food? Ick, ewww, nasty!
Remind me to just not go back to Cracker Barrel at night any more. It seems the day shift has their shit together, but the night shift must be the “B” team.

Here’s the funny thing… I find that I get lousy service and less than thrilling food at the CBs here, but whenever I go out of town it’s usually outstanding. In fact, that 100% tip I mentioned not too long ago was to a CB waitress in Athens, Alabama.
Maybe I need to come up there and we go to CB together and see what happens!
On another note, I want Mystery Lady X to cook for me every night. I like everything (well, meat anyway) near-burnt to burnt too!

In defense of the server, a lot of times it’s the cooks that send out the crap food. They don’t have to deal with the customer and don’t care if they get burnt food or not. And cooks are meeeeeaaaaan. I’m married to one. I know this first hand.
And what is up with moms and the burnt shit? My mother dried out everything by cooking it way too much. To this day, I don’t eat pork chops because whenever she’d make them they’d be bone dry on the inside, crunchy and black on the outside. Blech.

Jag, you’ve gotta come have some of my oven “fried” porkchops some time - a little crunchy on the outside, moist ond tender on the inside. yum.
Ivy,
I feel your pain. CB has really not been good for me the last few times. Good thing I can’t eat there anymore because of WW. But every now and then, i miss the uncle Herschel’s favorite, with pork chop.

So would I take a turkey dried out and overcooked or a turkey a little icy inside? I’ll take the ice, too, but no bleeding steak.

Here is one for poor service at the Cracker Barrel. We really enjoy Cracker Barrel food but the poor service we recieved at the same restaurant location in the same week was beyond our understanding. The Cracker Barrel is in West Valley, Utah. On Monday July 2nd we went to Cracker Barrel to eat. We waited longer than necessary for a waitress. She took our order and brought our food out but when it came time for drink refills we had to go get some to get our refills. This refill thing seems to be a problem at every Cracker Barrel across the country. On July 4th we went back to eat in the afternoon. We were quickly seated and as we waited for a waitress we watched another waitress Erica waited on tables around us that had been seated after we were seated. We waited 10 minutes before we had to get up and go get some one to wait on us and still we waited for a waitress. I finally asked Erica if she was our waitress and she rudely said no but would take our order and at about that time our waitress did show up, Crystal S. It seemed everyone was involved in not waiting on us including the manager. I simply do not understand what we did to these people, no one would even look at us not even the manager but they gladly took our money. It is like we were being punished for two nights before.
