Gloom and Doom = over?

Well, Grandma finally had her surgery *today*. It was supposed to be yesterday, but her potassium level was down to a dangerously low level, so they put it off until today. The surgery went quite well, though. She should be in the hospital through Christmas- that’s the only sad part- but all in all, things look great for her, and that’s the most important part.

Today was a fun day. I spent the majority of the day doing little bits of fun things. I went to Megs’ school party today. God bless kindergarten teachers! There is no amount of money you could pay me to deal with a bunch of screaming 5 and 6 year olds all day.

Then I went to work, both of them. I’m always cheered up when I can go see the people at the ROC #2, and it’s also good to see my Mr. Rogers-like boss, who got me a big box of Ghirardelli Squares for Christmas. Oh, and I got my invitation to the office Christmas party yesterday. Seems they forgot to put me on the ROC distribution list, but it wasn’t intentional that I wasn’t invited. Suuuuuure. ;)

We went out to Minami Japanese Restaurant for dinner tonight. I love me some hibachi, and while we’re pretty broke due to the whole, “failure to process your invoices” thing, I managed to scrape up the change. It’s all Shauna’s fault, she wrote about the whole, going to a Japanese Steakhouse thing today. I was craving the food and I also *really* wondered how Nate would react.

Fortunately, he didn’t react like Pea, he was a bit scared but he held my hand. As we drove home he told me the fire was his favorite part. Of course, Nate wants to be a firefighter when he grows up, that might have something to do with it. ;)

So today I am feeling cheerier than I have the entire past week. Thanks for all the good thoughts, prayers, and everything else. I really think it carried me through all this.

I’m so glad things are looking up a little for you. You needed a break! Sorry Grandma’s going to be in the hospital over the holiday but I am relieved she is doing so much better.

That’s so cute about Nate and the fire. Tee hee.

i’m glad you are feeling better…and very glad your grandma came thru surgery fine. Sorry to hear about her being in hospital thru christmas. When DD2 was there right before christmas…the staff, and tons of volunteers were so good to her. She loved all the attention.

I’m glad your grandma is doing better. I do wish you hadn’t mentioned the hibachi though. I’m too broke to indulge, but I can hear the shrimp calling my name…

    Kat,

This particular place has lunch hibachi, which is from $8-12. Quite affordable, and I wish I had known before I went and paid dinner prices!

Anyway, you oughta schlep out to Smyrna soon and do lunch with me!
