I’ve got a new post up over at ParentsConnect. I know you guys would dearly love to be reading me here instead of over there, but I hear things like the small font size and other issues are meant to be resolved soon, so keep going over there to check me out. While you’re there, go post in the parenting forums, especially the ones I moderate, they’re a little quiet over there right now.

I was thinking last night about the fate of The Life and Times of One Hot mama! and what I’m going to do about this blog. I think this will be the “behind the scenes” blog, a complement to my blog over there. Of course, it’s not REALLY behind the scenes, since it’s out here on the internet for all to see, but still, I think I’ll focus here more on the local, the little stuff.

I hate to see my sitemeter, which once generally got over 100 page hits per day turn into 44 hits a day. I know I need to write more here and keep active in the local blogosphere to keep where I was at, but for some reason, I’m struggling with that.

I’m struggling with a lot of self-doubt right now and I think that has a whole lot to do with my blogger’s block. What if the site fails? What if I fail? These are things that go through my mind all the time.

Add to that a busy schedule with my other job (which I am terrified to quit because of all my worries) and it just adds up to a whole lot of ickiness in my head. Overall, I’m happy, I know how lucky I am to have this gig, and all. A lot of times I wonder why in the *hell* I even got the job over there, I’m pretty sure everyone else that was hired were professional writers before they did this, and maybe that’s why I *did* get the gig- most of them are pro writers, but only a few of us are *bloggers*.

I’m getting rambly, so I’ll stop here.

I know exactly why they hired you. You have a ‘voice’. You aren’t entirely sanded off and homogenized. You are honest, funny, and, imo, wonderful.

I’m not asking for a loan, but I do hope we can do some lunch soon, for real.

    jh <—- big fan.

I’ve always told you how I love your non-pretentious writing style. But I can understand your concern about here vs. there. Girl, you do what’s best for your family and right now that’s writing for moolah. But a little update like this one saying, “go read my new post” is nice!

  3. Sonia

i’m glad to see you blogging ovah here. I read you over ~~~>there too though.

  4. Kat Coble

I like to read both. I hope the other succeeds, but I miss this one.

And yes, you do have a voice which is fun and unique. I’d hire you.

Some day I’ll get around to registering over there. I am just generally adverse to ‘parenting’ sites because usually they just succeed in making me feel like I’m an inadequate parent. Love your posts though and have this blog in my favorites…Maybe just keep posting ‘new post over there’ if you can, so I don’t miss ya!

  6. Ivy, the Great and Powerful

Thanks, Par. We’re all *fantastic* parents on the internet, yanno, haha.

Except I posted that I was a crappy mom, so maybe not, lol.
