Ever since Kat started up this meme (I think it was today, lol) I was hoping I’d be tagged for this. I love talking about the Bible. So here we go!
1. Who is your favourite Biblical personage, other than Jesus?
This is kinda hard. There are 2 people that really stand out in my mind, first is Ruth, who was a prime example of true friendship, and Mary, who is a great example of perfect obedience, even when everything doesn’t make sense. I guess if I really had to choose, I’d pick Ruth.
2. What is your favourite book of the Old Testament?
With the above answer, you’d think I would choose Ruth, and it is one of my favorites, but my very favorite is Numbers. Just kidding. That has to be the most boring book of the bible, although it has a faboo verse I used to win those “who can name the most verses in the Bible” games all the time when I was a kid:
Numbers 7:28 one male goat for a sin offering.
Throw out that verse, and people get flustered every time.
Oh, my favorite book in the Old Testament. That would be Ecclesiastes, because it’s fun to say, and has some of the most thought provoking, beautiful language in the entire Bible.
3. What is your least favourite book of the Old Testament?
That would be Nahum. Because God sounds like a really mean guy in that book. He sounds like a really mean guy in the entire Old Testament, but especially in Nahum. Plus, it’s confusing. But at least it’s short.
4. What is your favourite non- gospel book of the New Testament?
Non-gospel! That’s not fair! I was totally going to choose The Gospel According to St. Mark, because not only is it written by my dad, but it’s the most interesting book in the entire New Testament.
Alright, alright. I’ll pick 1 Corinthians. I don’t really know why. I’m still pouting because I can’t choose Mark.
5. What is your life verse?
That would be Ecclesiastes 3:1
There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven
You see, God works on his own time. I have a bad problem with wanting things to hurry up. I want Nate to hurry up and get out of this toddler stage. I want Jim to hurry up and get promoted. I want my new job to hurry up and get started. My granny always says, “You’re wishing your life away”, and she is right. Everything happens for a reason, and everything will happen in its own time. We all need to slow down and appreciate the here and now, instead of wishing our lives away.
6. Tag 5 people who might want to play
Sonia, Heather, Kathy T., Dewayne-san, and Ms. Nina Cat, even though I know she’s not a Christian, I think she would have some very interesting and valid answers.

Funny you should mention Eccelsiastes. I always enjoyed reading the”wisdom” literature. To me Proverbs is the joke book of the Bible. When I was in a class as a young teenager, the teacher asked the class, “What’s your favorite verse in the Bible?” Several guys gave some pat answers like John 3:16 and such. But one friend of mine leaned over and whispered Proverbs 5:19. I looked it up and just busted out laughing! Typical favorite verse for a teenage boy.

I tend to gravitate towards people like Peter and David. Both sharp and great guys, but sometimes they do stupid things. Same reason I kinda draw towards Sarah. She’s such a typical broad. Hmmm..sounds like somebody else I know….ME!!!!
Old Testament book….depends on where I’m at and what I’m studying at the moment. 1 and 2 Samuel are rich…love Isaiah, Psalms…just did a study in the fall on The Patriarchs and Genesis rocks. We tend to think the people in Genesis don’t relate to modern times but oh…they do.
Don’t really have an “unfavorite”. Some are a little on the bloody and gory side but those were not exactly sunshiny times. I could say a particular book is my least favorite, but it’s just like God to whoop up and show you something in a particular passage that really speaks to you (yes, even in Haggai!) God’s Word is always fresh and new.
Favorite non Gospel…gee…this week, it’s Hebrews. Next week…no telling.
Life verse? A toss up between 1 Corinthians 10:13 and Jeremiah 29:11.
No temptation has seized you except that which is common to man..but God is faithful and He will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able but with the temptation He will also provide a way of escape so that you are able to bear it…1 Cor 10:13
For I know the plans I have for you says the Lord..plans for your welfare, not for disaster to give you future and a hope…Jer 29:11
